Is this for me?
You want to act but never went to drama school. When you go to bed at night and you don't just count sheep, you want to be one. People describe you as having a 'herd' mentality. You think film stars are 'important', or you just want to earn £100 a day without doing anything demanding - you are a born extra. An extra or 'background artist' is the kind of person you see in the back of the pub or walking down the pavement while the actors do their acting thing. If you think walking down the street in the background is acting, you have the right mentality - you're in the right place, welcome to Extras Academy!
You may have seen our service advertised and you're now extremely interested in becoming an extra. If this is the case, there has never been a better time to join Extras Academy. Our clients are always on the lookout for available, dependable, reliable and punctual people of all ages who don't mind getting up at the crack of dawn and making their way to a field, a studio, a pub or a tent, or even a castle ready to start a day's work on a film set. Being an extra can be fun, as you will be on film sets, watching the next great movie, soap or sit-com happening around you.
Many of today's well-known actors started their careers as extras. Brad Pitt's first acting role was as an extra in the film Cutting Class. Bruce Willis was an extra in the film The Verdict, along with being a photo-double and extra in Frank Sinatra's film First Deadly Sin. As an extra, you are able to gain knowledge, insight and experience into the film making process that is not obtainable through just sitting in a classroom or reading a book.
You'll soon find plenty of friends and an active social scene working as an extra. We regularly supply our clients with background extras from all walks of life: from professional actors who work on a daily basis, to amateurs looking to get their foot in the door – if you want to join them, come this way!
