Extras Academy is an online service for people wanting paid work in Television and Film as a background artiste (also known as an extra). Our academy is an online directory listing information and photographs of all members who are seeking work primarily as an extra, but often will be hired for talents including singing, dancing, acrobatics etc. Once members subscribe to the academy their details are then accessible to every media production company in the UK who log onto the site and search, browse and book members for their production.

No experience is needed to join Extras Academy; with members receiving weekly audition alerts, industry news updates and features from professional actors – it’s never long before their new found career is off to a flying start.

We were originally working under the previous name of “Xtra Recruitment”. This was an advice service for individuals wanting a career in the acting industry which ran alongside a small scale manual talent directory. Due to the overwhelming amount of interest from individuals seeking work, we transformed this into an online talent database with many extra features; ‘Extras Academy’ was born.
